he lies in wait to catch the poor;
he catches the poor
when he draws him into his net.
So he crouches, he lies low,
that the helpless may fall by his strength.

Submit therefore to GOD.

for many demons had entered him.
They were imploring HIM not to command them to go away into the abyss.
the demons implored HIM to permit them to enter the swine.
& HE gave them permission.

"You deaf and mute spirit, I command you, come out of him
& do not enter him again."
After crying out & throwing him into terrible convulsions, it came out;
HIS disciples began questioning HIM privately,
"Why could we not drive it out?"
& HE said to them, "This kind cannot come out by anything but prayer."

JESUS rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet and come out of him!"
& when the demon had thrown him down in the midst of the people,
he came out of him without doing him any harm.

"Have YOU not made a hedge about him & his house & all that he has, on every side?
YOU have blessed the work of his hands,
& his possessions have increased in the land.
"But put forth YOUR hand now & touch all that he has;
he will surely curse YOU to YOUR face."

Then the devil took Him into the holy city and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down ; for it is written, 'HE WILL COMMAND HIS ANGELS CONCERNING YOU'; and 'ON their HANDS THEY WILL BEAR YOU UP, SO THAT YOU WILL NOT STRIKE YOUR FOOT AGAINST A STONE.' "
Jesus said to him, "On the other hand, it is written, 'YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.'
Again, the devil took Him to a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory ; and he said to Him, "All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me."
Then Jesus said to him, "Go, Satan ! For it is written, 'YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY.' "
Then the devil left Him;
and behold,
angels came
and began to minister to Him.
